Troubleshooting

What to check when watches, sync, backups, subscriptions, or run location get stuck.

When your watch won't connect

Use the message under Watch status in Menu → App settings → Smartwatch to find the cause.

Also check that Smartwatch sync is on. To send a workout to the watch, start it on your phone first.

When your Garmin won't connect

Follow the message that appears when you tap Connect a Garmin watch.

If you open FitBoost on the watch and no workout arrives, check that you started the workout on your phone first. The full steps are in connecting a Garmin watch.

When sync isn't working

Check the message in Menu → App settings → Sync across devices.

Check that both devices use the same iCloud or Google account and both have sync on. iPhone and Android don't sync with each other; move with a backup file.

When a backup file won't open

A failed import leaves the records on this device unchanged. Check the message you see.

When PRO doesn't show after subscribing

Tap Restore purchases on the FitBoost PRO screen.

You need to be signed in to the Apple or Google account you paid with. Subscriptions bought on iPhone don't restore on Android, and the other way around. See restoring purchases for more.

When a workout you just did is missing

Workouts ended with End without saving aren't saved. Records are kept only when you tap Finish workout.

You can re-enter a lost workout with Record → Add workout record → Log a past workout. If you did it on a Garmin watch, keep your phone close and send it again from the watch app.

When it says a workout is in progress

If you see Finish the workout in progress first., a workout is still open.

Go back with Resume workout on today's card in Home and tap Finish workout, or discard it with End without saving if you don't need it, then start again.

The same reason is behind You have a workout in progress. Switch after you finish. when you switch to running mode.

When the health app won't connect

If you see Couldn't connect health data., check your device's health permissions.

On iPhone, check Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → FitBoost. On Android, check FitBoost under app permissions in Health Connect. Nothing new to import. means there are no new workouts from the last 30 days.

When notifications or the Lock Screen don't show

If you see Notifications are turned off. Turn them on in Settings., allow notifications for FitBoost in your device settings.

If Live Activities are off, the app says Turn on Live Activities in Settings › FitBoost. Notifications must be allowed too. See also widgets and the Lock Screen.

When your run location isn't picked up

If you see Location access is needed for outdoor runs or Location is off, so only time is recorded., turn on location for FitBoost in your device settings.

  1. On iPhone, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → FitBoost and choose While Using the App.
  2. On Android, go to Settings → Apps → FitBoost → Permissions → Location and choose Allow only while using the app.

You don't need Always. Once a run starts, it keeps measuring with the screen off until that run ends. If Finding GPS lasts a while, wait a moment somewhere with open sky. Indoors, such as on a treadmill, distance is estimated from steps instead of location, so on Android allow physical activity too.

When the map doesn't show

In builds where maps aren't available, your route is drawn as a line with no base map, and Draw on map is hidden.

If the course screen says Maps aren't available in this build, so drawing is hidden. You can still create from a past run or a file., this is why. You can still make courses with Past run or File, and distance, splits, and course comparisons work as usual. If you see No route recorded, no location was saved for that run, either because it was indoors or because location was off.
